Common Air Conditioning Problems:

AC Unit Refrigerant Leaks – If you believe your air conditioner is low on refrigerant (you can feel airflow through your vents, but it is not keeping your home very cool), there might be a leak in the system. If you have a leak, simply adding refrigerant is not a permanent solution. Poor or Inadequate Preventative Maintenance – Do not allow your home A/C filters and air conditioning coils to become dirty. Your air conditioner will not work properly, and the compressor or fans are likely to fail prematurely.

As a rule of thumb, you should replace your home air filters every 90 days.

Electric Control Failure – The compressor and fan controls on your A/C unit can wear out, especially on hot summer days when the air conditioner turns on and off frequently. Corrosion of wires and terminals inside the air conditioner can be problematic in many systems, electrical connections and contacts should always be checked during a professional service call. Sensor Issues – Room air conditioners feature a thermostat sensor, located behind the control panel, which measures the temperature of air coming into the evaporator coil. If the sensor is damaged or malfunctioning and has been knocked out of position, the air conditioner could cycle constantly or behave erratically.

Moisture or Drainage Problems – High humidity can cause condensation to build up in the A/C unit, check the condensate drain to make sure it isn’t clogged and is draining properly.
