The American Innovation and Manufacturing (AIM) Act and You

For our email subscribers, we shared some initial guidance on the upcoming changes in the HVAC industry. Although there was not a lot of information at the time, we shared what we had as soon as we had it.
We recently received more information from manufacturers that we feel is important to share with you. Please take a moment to review the details below and how they will affect everyone.
What is
the AIM Act?
The AIM Act authorizes the EPA to address hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs) by providing new jurisdiction in three main areas: to phase down the production and consumption of listed HFCs, manage these HFCs and their substitutes, and facilitate the transition to next-generation technologies through sector-based restrictions. In layman’s terms, old technologies are being phased out for newer technologies that are better for the environment.
What Does
This Mean For Me?
Manufacturers are now faced with the challenge of balancing the production of replacement parts for current equipment, as they work to minimize waste and overproduction. As a result, we anticipate longer lead times for parts, and eventually, some replacement parts may no longer be available. We are already beginning to experience extended wait times and limited availability of certain components.

Increases Coming
As mentioned in our previous email, we have been notified of significant price increases of $1500-$2000 or more for new heating and cooling equipment. While Aspire often absorbs smaller price adjustments to support our customers, an increase of this magnitude is simply not sustainable for any company to absorb.
